Generational expert Cam Marston has a few ideas. For starters, he says Xers and millennials need to realize they will likely work for and respond to baby boomer bosses for the next 20 years or so. "It's bleak," he said, "but there's no way around it."

This statement is just not TRUE. Most X-ers will not be in a position for more than 5 to 10 years. And it is predicted Generation Y-ers will change jobs at least 7 times before age of 30. The shift in job skills will lead to more technologically savy bosses and lead to different companies than what we currently have. Education requirements for newly created jobs fields will open doors for newly educated or degreed managers. The next 5 - 10 years we will see explosive differences in the world and way we do business and work. I cannot imagine most 80% of Generation X-ers
maintaining the same job for over 20 years.

The inflexibility and "bleakness" of Mr. Marson's statement dictates the system (Corporate) America will still operate by the "old" rules for promotion.
