Saturdays at CPA Success are usually spent reviewing online tools that can help increase our productivity. Keep in mind that we do not endorse any of these services. We simply offer them up for your consideration. Do your own homework and find the service that best meets your needs.
Is your company using wikis yet?
In its simplest terms, a wiki is a Web page that anyone can edit. With wikis, everyone can contribute to the content that's available online. A YouTube tutorial entitled "Wikis in Plain English" offers a great explanation of how wikis work.
Wikipedia, of course, is probably the most well-known example of the wiki concept in action, but there are lots of other possibilities as well.
Let's say you're working on an project with a number of people in multiple locations. Wikis can serve as a project management tool that allows team members to share ideas, content, documents and other resources online.
Here's another great use for wikis: The "Help" section of our company's content management system is a wiki, an online space where CMS users can share ideas and advice about how to use the CMS and its various functions. That's a perfect example of the crowd-is-smarter-than-the-individual mentality that drives wikis.
Interested in checking them out for yourself? There are a bunch of wiki services available that will let you to create a wiki at little or no cost. Some of these services are WikiSpaces, PBWiki, WetPaint and Writeboard. Play around with them and tell us which is your favorite. If you like one that's not listed here, share that with us, too.
What are some other ways in which businesses might be able to use wikis?

Zoho.com has a pretty good wiki function that is free. I think it is better than some of the ones mentioned above.
