I can see both sides of the issue here, but if you want to play with the big dogs and go public, you have to provide some assurance that you are limiting fraud within the company. That is one of your duties to your shareholders, right?

You've asked an excellent question. There has to be a "middle ground" approach.

It may be an overly simplistic response, but neither SOX 404 nor Certified Fraud Examiners prevent fraud -- especially when it is begins in the executive offices.

The solution must begin by hiring professionals who will not compromise their personal integrity at the expense of any stakeholder.
