Nice post, gives much room for thought. The editorial comment at top of post (we need one set of global acct stds) detracts. It has never been shown why we need one. Other than that, you post interesting list of current set of problems.

The editorial comment is mine and it comes from the undeniable trend in globalization. I believe we do need a single set of high quality standards to facilitate global business and eliminate "standards" arbitrage that can happen when different sets of standards are used.
